Francis A. Carey is a local of Pennsylvania, educated within the public colleges of Philadelphia, at Drexel College (B.S. in chemistry, 1959), and at Penn State (Ph.D. 1963). Following postdoctoral work at Harvard and army service, he was appointed to the chemistry school of the College of Virginia in 1966. Previous to retiring in 2000, he commonly taught the 2-semester lecture programs basically chemistry and natural chemistry.

Together with his college students, Professor Carey has revealed over forty analysis papers in artificial and mechanistic natural chemistry. Along with this textual content, he’s coauthor (with Robert C. Atkins) of Organic Chemistry: A Transient Course and (with Richard J. Sundberg) of Superior Organic Chemistry, a two-quantity therapy designed for graduate college students and superior undergraduates. He was a member of the Committee of Examiners of The Graduate File Examination in Chemistry from 1993-2000.

Frank and his spouse Jill, who’s a trainer/director of a preschool and a church organist, are the mother and father of Andy, Bob, and Invoice and the grandparents of Riyad and Ava.
