Physical metallurgy is among the many principal fields of metallurgical science dealing with the occasion of the microstructure of metals in an effort to acquire fascinating properties required in technological functions. Physical Metallurgy: Principles and Design focuses on the processing–building–properties triangle as a result of it applies to metals and alloys. It introduces the fundamental concepts of bodily metallurgy and the design methodologies for alloys and processing. The first part of the information discusses the development and change of building by the use of part transformations. The latter part of the books presents with plastic deformation, strengthening mechanisms, and mechanical properties as they relate to building. The information moreover contains a chapter on bodily metallurgy of steels and concludes by discussing the computational devices, involving computational thermodynamics and kinetics, to hold out alloy and course of design.

Biography

Gregory N. Haidemenopoulos has been Professor of Physical Metallurgy and Director of the Laboratory of Provides (LoM) at School of Thessaly, Greece since 1992. His evaluation is apprehensive with processing-structure-properties in metallic provides, dealing with transformation kinetics in TRIP steels, corrosion-induced hydrogen trapping in aluminum alloys and rolling contact fatigue in rails. Newer evaluation focuses on computational alloy and course of simulation with functions throughout the design of homogenization of extrudable aluminum alloys, the design of medium-Mn steels and the thermomechanical course of design of HSLA steels. Together with educating and evaluation, Prof. Haidemenopoulos has provided consulting firms to commerce throughout the fields after all of design, failure analysis, provides alternative and corrosion administration.

Prof. Haidemenopoulos has supervised numerous PhD school college students and has earned the School of Thessaly’s Mechanical Engineering Departmental Best Educating Award for the years 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2014, and 2015. He is Member of Editorial Board of The Open Corrosion Journal and Worldwide Journal of Metallurgical and Provides Engineering, printed 10 information chapters, 70 papers in refereed journals, and launched many keynote and invited lectures worldwide. Prof. Haidemenopoulos obtained his PhD in Metallurgy, MSc in Metallurgy, and MSc in Naval Construction and Marine Engineering from MIT.
